Description |
Because of our network of compassionate and warm Friendly Calls volunteers, thousands of Canadians looking for connection, can look forward to a friendly phone call and visit every week. As a volunteer in this role, you will: - Establish and maintain regular telephone contact with assigned program participants for the purpose of providing companionship and emotional support, and connections to community resources as required; - Consult with Friendly Calls Coordinator or designate for contact with other health professionals and for referrals to other services; - Keep detailed accurate records - Escalate any concerns regarding assigned program participants to the coordinator/designate; and participate in ongoing learning opportunities as required. |
Training Details | Training and coaching for best practice in supporting participants, and processes for documentation and reporting will be provided. |
Working Conditions |
Minimum six-month commitment The majority of the work is performed from a remote home setting Must have a quiet and private setting to conduct the calls uninterrupted Involves working alone with minimal supervision A Canada-wide long-distance telephone plan is best; however, opportunities to call local program participants may be possible for those who only have a local phone plan Weekly commitment of 2-4 hours. |
